Please watch the CBS evening new tonight and tell me what Katie Couric has done to her face. It looks very weird.
Hoof in mouth disease
Good Morning! OK, you can be mad at me – I obviously have hoof in mouth disease. If I said anything last night that hurt your feelings, I am so sorry. Especially any comments about your hair and it being blonde. I love your hair dark – it looks good on you. Since I don’t have any pictures of you around the house with the dark hair, I still have a vision of you with the blonde hair!! So just smack me from now on if I say anything stupid! I do actually like your hair!!!!
The brown outfit was especially cute!
Love you - Mom

i heart nunavut

pics from my work trip to Cape Dorset are up on flickr. we went up to make a video about the community. town of 4-1 artists to other occupations, easygoing and super open. i could live there, maybe, if it weren't for the polar bears and lack of produce.Labels: career opportunities, far away places
STOP LOOK
I stopped in a small, run-down junk store this weekend. It's in my old neighborhood, and for a sign it simply has the hand-painted words STOP on the left and LOOK on the right. I've shopped there before and can usually find one or two things that I like, but this last time and found oodles and oodles and oodles. I only left with a few items because I was cash poor, so I'm hoping that its humble exterior and limited hours will ensure that some of the things I fell in love with will still be there this coming weekend.
I forgot to ask the price on this bench, but I want it!

I'm defintely going back for this lovely huge lamp.

giggling statues.

for mimi: so many miniature shoes!

A More Perfect Union
The Christ comparisons are full force -- I heard Jessie Jackson Jr on the radio this morning calling Obama a "near diety." I'm so worried we (liberals) are going to screw this up, and this man won't be my next president. Because after his speech addressing race that he gave earlier this week, I want that more than ever. I've never felt like a politician spoke for me before now.

Rabbit Rescue
I finally watched this ad today. It's on Facebook all the time -- but maybe it is on my Facebook because I'm a fan of Amy Sedaris. I'm so easy to market to. Anyways, it's cute!

looking for a hairdo
I need a trim, but I wouldn't mind a little alteration in style. I have something specific in mind -- a long mullet-ish cut that this woman from Birmingham has always worn. She's an early gray-er, too, and is probably all the way silver at this point. She's also beautiful and stylish and definitely a don't-dye-it role model for me.
I've looked a little on the street blogs to see if I can find something similar to her cut, and this is the closest I can find:

Just imagine it silver and better conditioned. What do you think?

Bunny Spotting
I saw the rabbit again! Or at least I assume it's the same one. It was in the same spot about the same time of night. I hope there's a whole den of them in my building. I want bunnies abound for spring!
I zoomed in on these first ones, thus the blurs. but I like the different poses!

The 12 Best Household Uses for Vodka (Not including Martinis)

- Keep Aphids off houseplants. Wash off houseplants with tap water then dab the leaves with a cotton ball dipped in vodka. Do not use alcohol on delicate plants like African Violets.
- Shine chrome, glass and porcelain bathroom fixtures. Soak a soft, clean cloth with vodka and shine.
- Remove hairspray from mirrors. Soak a soft, clean cloth with vodka and wipe mirrors clean.
- Clean crystal and porcelain ornaments.
- Clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers by filling a spray bottle with vodka, then spraying the caulking. Wait 5 minutes, then wash clean. Bonus: the alcohol in the vodka actually kills mold and mildew.
- Clean a chandelier right where it hangs! Spray the chandelier with a solution of four teaspoons of vodka to one pint of water. Put down a cloth or plastic sheet to catch the drips.
- Remove stains by rubbing with a clean cloth soaked in vodka. Rinse thoroughly.
- Clean jewelry and cutlery. Soak it in vodka for five minutes, rinse and dry.
- Remove the glue left behind by stickers and labels. Rub the glue with a soft, clean cloth soaked in vodka.
- Use it to kill bees and wasps.
- To get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke, mix one part vodka to three parts water, spray and let dry.
- Clean tiles in the bathroom by spraying with vodka. Leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse. Great for getting rid of soap scum.
