Hoof in mouth disease
Good Morning! OK, you can be mad at me – I obviously have hoof in mouth disease. If I said anything last night that hurt your feelings, I am so sorry. Especially any comments about your hair and it being blonde. I love your hair dark – it looks good on you. Since I don’t have any pictures of you around the house with the dark hair, I still have a vision of you with the blonde hair!! So just smack me from now on if I say anything stupid! I do actually like your hair!!!!
The brown outfit was especially cute!

Ah, it's good to see that the passive-aggressive, backhanded, compliment-that's-really-a-criticism is not simply the ken of the Jewish and Italian mothers.
Oh, so, so funny. I cannot wait until R&F are old enough to read emails from me. Oh yes. I will tell them about all of my medical ailments. Oh yes.
Don't forget Chinese mothers...oh wait, my mom will just openly tell me stuff I don't want to hear. Nevermind.
oh, I mean they're anonymous to the public at large, not to the recipent/child.
it's true mothers and the backhanded compliment are an international wonder.
